letters to jetstar

Love is in the air

We would love to share the most fantastic experience we had on a recent Jetstar flight.

For months I had been wracking my brain trying to conjure up the perfect proposal for my girlfriend Patricia. I already had the engagement ring, and knowing we were soon to holiday in Noosa, I thought our flight would be the perfect setting. I called Jetstar and they confirmed it wouldn’t be a problem. After our relaxing five-day holiday in Noosa, we were sitting in the departure lounge waiting to board. I needed to appear calm so that I didn’t give anything away, meanwhile my insides were churning.

We settled into seats 19B & 19C and soon after the flight departed, I asked Patricia: “What if I pretended it was your birthday and we got the whole plane to sing happy birthday to you?” Although she was worried I would get into trouble, she thought it would be fun. With that, I undid my seatbelt and headed to the front of the plane to make my request, and where the stewards told me which buttons to press on the cabin’s speaker phone. “Hi everyone, my name is Kosta and I’m here with my girlfriend Patricia. We’ve been together for a few years now and I love her very much. Stand up honey and wave to the crowd.” Patricia was now expecting a happy birthday cheer.

While I had the attention of every person on the flight, I got down on one knee and asked: “Patricia, will you marry me?” Out broke the thunderous applause, the cheers, the “oohs” and “ahhs”. The ladies all wanted to see her ring, the men were congratulating me. We were greeted by one of the flight attendants offering us celebratory champagne.

Thank you all for helping turn my vision into a reality, and a magical one at that!

Safe travels with gratitude

My wife Isabell and I had been on a wonderful three-week holiday in Malaysia, arriving on Jetstar’s inaugural flight JQ65 on 9 September from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur and returning on flight JQ66 on 30 September.

This letter is a huge thank you to those who helped me when I fell ill during the return flight, which was subsequently diverted to Darwin:

• the Jetstar pilot and crew, who were marvellous in making us more comfortable and for reassuring my wife, and for diver ting the aircraft to Darwin.
• the two ladies in front of us who turned out to be nurses and offered assistance.
• Dr Michael Liu, who volunteered his help to revive me and keep me stable, along with another unnamed doctor, who comforted Isabell.
• the two paramedics who escorted me off the aircraft to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
• immigration, customs, quarantine and airport staff who made our entry back into Australia stress-free.
• the police who brought our luggage to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
• the Royal Darwin Hospital staff, including Dr Gagliardo, who attended to me.
• Peter Kennedy and Brian Chin (Qantas customer service of[fb01]cers) for their kindness and assistance in organising accommodation at the Darwin Airport Resort and our Qantas return flight to Sydney.
• the passengers on JQ66 who were inconvenienced, I thank you for your understanding and support.

Thank you, to you all. Words cannot express my gratitude. I am very lucky! And hopefully on the mend.

Regards,
Chris and Isabell Clegg
