WORDS CRAIG TANSLEY

SAIL AWAY IN THAILAND

Sunsail are opening a new seasonal base at Koh Chang in the Gulf of Thailand at the end of this month. Based in the province of Trat and within easy access of Bangkok, the centre will operate during the dry season of November to April. The Koh Chang Archipelago includes around 50 islands and is famous for its gorgeous beaches, beautiful waterfalls and fantastic snorkelling. These charters will particularly appeal to adventurous holidaymakers who have already enjoyed the Sunsail experience and are looking for new waters to cruise. Call Sunsail on 1800 803 988 within Australia.

TWO-WHEEL TRIPS

If you’re hankering for an outdoor adventure after a long, cold winter, then get on your bike and ride. Although the Central Coast of New South Wales is chock-full of beautiful beaches, national parks and lakes, it’s not always easy to figure out the most scenic routes to get there. So, Central Coast Tourism has designed a book and website detailing bike rides throughout the region, from the smooth Family Fun Ride to the hard-core Hinterland History Ride. Contact Central Coast Tourism for a copy of the cycling guide – you can call 1300 130 708 within Australia.

COOL CATS

You’ve got the shoes, the training pants, the tennis rackets, cricket bat, basketballs and golf clubs, but what about the luggage? Puma doesn’t just make sports gear these days – they’ve recently released the Urban Mobility Collection for city-dwellers who move fast and need their bags to follow. Portable, durable and ultra-cool, this luggage will make you the hippest traveller at the carousel. Puma’s range includes everything from document wallets and courier bags (both pictured) to bikes. Prices start at AU$30 and the collection is available at Puma stores nationwide.

PULL YOUR WEIGHT

Did you put on some winter flab while you were hiding under those thick clothes? Most of us did, and most of us also can’t be bothered to go to the gym every day. But when the gym comes to you, you’ve got no excuse! Labelled the best fitness breakthrough since the Swiss ball, the TRX Professional is a set of ropes, pulleys and hooks designed to give you a thorough workout in the time and place that suits you. The system is so good that even rugby league teams like the Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs use it. Order it for AU$239.95 plus postage by calling 1300 884 491 within Australia.

A GOOD CLIMBING STORY

We all know you can climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, but now you have the chance to climb another Aussie icon, Brisbane’s Story Bridge. Departing from Kangaroo Point, Story Bridge Adventure Climb is one of only three bridge climbs in the world. You’ll be taken to an 80m-high viewing platform where you can enjoy 360-degree views of the city, as well as natural beauties like the Glasshouse Mountains and Moreton Bay. The 1km trek rambles through the bridge’s superstructure, all while traffic rushes by. Taking nearly two and a half hours, climbs run daily, with prices starting at AU$110 for adults and AU$82.50 for children aged 12 to 16. To book, call 1300 CLIMBS (1300 254 627) within Australia.
